A well-established, family-owned and operated company for over 65 years based in Alliston, Ontario is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper/ Accountant to join our team.
This is a part-time role, will handle daily transactional accounting and reporting for several operating companies. This includes accurate coding and entry of financial data specific to each business line: produce packing/distribution, Amazon fleet logistics, and facility service contracts. This position will report to the Controller.

Hours of work: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bookkeeping and record-keeping duties for each individual entity
- Ensure each operating entity’s books are accurately maintained, with attention to entity-specific revenue and expense tracking.
- Maintain bank reconciliations, A/R, A/P, and general ledger integrity
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, match payments to customer invoices, enter vendor bills, and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts.
- Track fleet-related expenditures including maintenance, leasing, and fuel
- Monitor and code vehicle related transactions; categorize and reconcile fuel charges, leasing costs, and maintenance work orders.
- Prepare HST filings and payroll remittances and annual reconciliations as required per company
- Compile and file HST returns and ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll source deductions for each operating company.
- Support the month-end close process and provide reporting to the controller
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end checklists for approval, general financial reports by business line
- Monitor project-based spending and vendor payments for racking and cleaning contracts
- Track expenses tied to specific facility service contracts, validate vendor invoices, and maintain spend visibility against budgets.
- Assist with inventory tracking, job costing, and administrative reporting needs
- Support inventory valuation processes, input job cost data, and prepare reports for management decision-making.
- Support capital asset and prepaid scheduled and year-end tax files
- Maintain fixed asset registers, track additions/disposals, and reconcile prepaid expenses for amortization and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in accounting or 3-5 years of hands- on senior level bookkeeping/accounting in a multi-business or operationally varied environment
- High attention to detail, and ability to work across different teams and workflows
- Comfortable with QBO, DEXT, Plooto or similar tools in a cloud-based environment
